About SubraLabs

SubraLabs is the independent software studio of Martino Vigiani. It exists for projects that need one person to understand the product, make the technical decisions, build the software, and remain accountable through launch.

Background

I'm Martino Vigiani. I'm Italian, I live in Germany and I study at TUM in Munich. I run SubraLabs alone. I also build with AI coding agents, and I say so in the write-ups where it matters.

Path so far

• 2025. I founded SubraLabs to build native iOS apps and web products on my own.
• 2026. I designed and built Saudi Atlas and Saudi Resorts for Palidano LLC. The client's own words are on the home page.
• April 2026. I published a paper from that work, comparing Apple's on-device model with a 20B cloud model for multi-step tool calling in a travel assistant. The app has since moved to Apple's own models only, and the paper says so.
• June 2026. I released Sense Calibrator and wrote up the method and its limits.

Projects

Client work, for Palidano LLC:

• Saudi Atlas. An iOS app and web app on Saudi Arabia's architectural heritage, built around a photographic collection: editorial layouts, navigation region by region, full-screen galleries. SwiftUI and Next.js.
• Saudi Resorts. An iOS app and companion web app covering the luxury hotels and resorts of Saudi Arabia: a scoring-based way to browse, an interactive map, and a travel assistant that runs on Apple's on-device models by default. The interface is in English, Italian and Arabic, with full right-to-left support. I also built the browser console the client uses to update hotel data and photos, in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with PHP behind it.

My own projects:

• Sense Calibrator. A browser tool, MIT licensed, that tests and recalibrates stick drift on a DualSense controller over WebHID, with no install. The protocol work builds on the open-source dualshock-tools project. Open the tool.
• ClaudeBar. A macOS menu bar app that shows how much of your AI coding allowance is left and when it resets. A plain Swift 6.2 package with no third-party dependencies, published on GitHub.
• Lab papers. Two technical write-ups so far, on on-device versus cloud language models and on controller calibration.
• The One Man Company. A blog about running a software company alone, built with Next.js.

Skills and stack

• iOS. Swift 6 and SwiftUI, MapKit, Apple's Foundation Models framework, TestFlight and App Store Connect.
• Web. Next.js, React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS; progressive web apps; Leaflet for maps; plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript when a framework adds nothing, as on this site.
• Backend and infrastructure. Node.js with Express and SQLite, PHP for an admin console, Nginx, Cloudflare and deployment to a VPS.
• AI. On-device models through Foundation Models and tool-calling assistants, measured against a cloud model before choosing.
• Hardware and protocols. Reading a USB HID protocol and writing to a device from the browser over WebHID.

What the studio builds

The work covers native iOS applications in Swift and SwiftUI, web products built with modern JavaScript frameworks, small backends and APIs, and AI-assisted features. A project may start with a rough concept or an existing product that needs a careful rebuild. The aim is the same: a useful, maintainable product whose design and engineering support each other.

SubraLabs is particularly experienced in editorial and hospitality products, companion web apps, interactive maps, private on-device processing, and integrations with language models. Public case studies describe shipped work without exposing client credentials, private infrastructure, commercial terms, or internal roadmaps.

How the work is organised

SubraLabs is a solo studio, not a marketplace and not a large agency. Clients communicate directly with the person doing the work. Scope, constraints, milestones, testing, App Store preparation, and launch support are handled as parts of one delivery rather than passed between departments.

The name comes from “subra”, the Arabic word for patience. Here it means deliberate engineering: understand the problem, keep the normal path simple, test the behaviour that matters, and distinguish a build that passes locally from a product that has actually reached its users.

Independent technical work

The SubraLabs Lab publishes technical write-ups drawn from real development work. Topics include on-device versus cloud language models, agentic tool calling, and hardware-level controller calibration. These articles state their methods and limits so that readers and automated systems can judge the evidence instead of relying on a marketing claim.
